Covid–19: 4th May Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

You will all be aware of the government’s decision to wait until September to re-open schools. While it is disappointing that we will not get back to normality sooner, it is also a relief that the health and safety of everyone is at the forefront of government planning.

Our 6th class boys are especially on my mind. I am sorry that you will miss the last fun-filled term in Primary School, a chance to create life-long memories. We will start planning for the Service of Light, Confirmation, Graduation, a chance to say our goodbyes and in some way make up for what you have missed out on.

  • We are sending home school books this week, to help with learning at home. Weekly schoolwork plans will continue to be uploaded to the website each week.
  • We are hoping to add a new page to the website, over the coming week. WATCH THIS SPACE. It will help the boys stay connected with each other. We hope to have competitions, challenges, jokes, recipes, announcements, pupils’ work, news and views etc…
  • It is never too late to join Google Classroom. If you are having trouble joining up or would like more information, please leave a voice message on the school telephone (051 376752) and a member of staff will be in touch to talk you through the process or email your son’s teacher. (See list of teacher email addresses below).
  • Check out Waterford Libraries Reading Challenge, click on the link below for more information

Stay safe and best wishes

Covid–19: 17th April Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you and your families are keeping well with all that is going on.

As I am sure you have kept a close eye on the media over the last few weeks. You will now know that we are not re-opening as hoped after the Easter Break and not for at least another 2 weeks. We are awaiting further information as to when we will all see each other again.

For those of you awaiting news of First Holy Communions and Confirmations, we have no further information. It would be unfair to speculate, suffice to say, that if it is feasible to celebrate these occasions on this side of the summer we will do so.

Thank you to those who have sent in consent for Google Classroom. We will be sending out usernames and passwords by text on Monday 20 April. The log in process is very straight forward.

  1. Open a web browser (e.g. Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge) and search
  2. Sign in using the username and password you have been provided with
  3. We have already added your son to the correct teacher so click on that classroom and you are ready to go…
  4. There are 3 headings within the classroom, Stream – general information, news Classwork where assignments will be posted and finally People -you can see who is connected to the class

Again there is no pressure to sign on at a particular time of the day or complete work to a deadline. It is there as a support to parents and children if they wish to use it. Children will be able to interact with their teachers, ask questions, have their work marked and share news with their classmates. I would encourage anybody who has the time and devices at their disposal to give it a go. Read the consent information and process on News page of this site. Families are free to opt out at any stage.

Take care and best wishes,

Suzanne Griffin
